Theme Thursday

This weeks Theme Thursday is "Winged People" Use a person with wings in your creation this week! Use collage images, photos, rubber stamps, fancy paper , embellishments or any other art supply to give your creation a ”winged person” So here is my take:

I took this tag and painted it gold with acrylic paint, then stressed it with Rangers Tea distress pad. I stamped the hearts with the Studio "g" stamps and hand stitched the glass beads on the bottom hearts. I used my Stamp Craft markers to color the hearts in . Added the beautiful young lady from my stash and then added the fibers. I distressed the edges with the Ruby Cats Eye.

I took a paper from my stash drawer and made a tag. Distressed the edges with a Ruby Cat's Eye. I used the darling little girl from my stash collage kids. I added Vintage lace and tissue paper garland. Added a little pink flower and ribbon to the tag.

Write Place, Write Time

Day 2: Ode to Summer was the second project for Teresa McFayden's Summer Journal.

We tore or cut some of our patterned paper and adhering them to a two page layout. We painted the pages with a color wash.

Then we added our focal points. To me you cannot have Summer without Roses. I love roses and have always had them. My husband and boys always get me Roses for Mother's Day and sometimes for my birthday.

So on this layout I have a bouquet of Roses, words that describe summer, and how I was feeling that day, and that was HAPPY!

The little girl swinging was my focal point on this layout. I loved to swing as a little girl. I could swing all day long. I added a grunge flower, sticker flower, along with a paper flower and chipboard button. Framed the little girl and added roses to the top corners of the frames.

Vintage Finds

Recently Kell, IL held their city wide Rummage Sales. And of course I had to go and check out all the rummage sales. It took me almost 3 hours to hit all the sales but did I find some awesome things.

I found the beautiful bowl. It has flowers on the front and back, then has raised flowers on each side. The bowl is registered, it has a number on the bottom. I am not sure what it is, but I am researching it. If you have any information, please contact me.


Here is the back side of the bowl with the pretty little flower.
I love the raised flower that is on both sides. The bowl is in perfect condition. It is a powder blue with purple and white flowers. The top edge of the bowl is scalloped.

I love this square table cloth. It has flowers all over it. The flowers are 2 shades of pink. It is hand embroidered with the flowers appliqued on it then embroidered around them. It would cover a small table, I have it on my sewing cabinet and is short too short to cover it from side to side.

These beautiful napkins go along with the beautiful table cloth. Six napkins go along with the table cloth. The table cloth and napkins are in excellent condition.

My find of the day was this box of Vintage seam binding and a few packages of Vintage rick rack. There was also a few Vintage buttons in the box also. I paid 25c for the WHOLE box...I couldn't believe it!! Some of the Vintage Rick Rack was only .10c. WOW!

I also found this wicker basket full of Vintage Rick Rack, with a few spools of ribbon. If you look in front of the basket there is a old green wooden thread spool, they have wrapped it with ribbon. Such a cute idea. There was also a Buckle kit and some grommets. I also paid .25c for the basket of goodies.

This Singer Width Extension Guide was in the bottom of the box of rick rack. It looks like it was never used. The envelope is very brittle and discolored.

I found a large shopping bag of Crochet thread. I believe there was 25 spools of the Crochet thread, a couple projects that had been started, and two crochet hooks. I paid $5.oo for the whole lot of them.. I was so happy to find this I am trying to learn how to make the little Rosettes that everyone is using on their scrapbook pages.


This table runner is very pretty sorry for the picture not being too good. The center of the sewing is a "crown" with a red rose as the jewel with flowers and vines to each side of the crown. There is red stitching all the way around the table runner.

Repeated several times around the sides of the table runner is this pretty grouping of flowers.


I have always loved dolls and when I seen her I could pass her up. Especially since they were only asking $2.00. The elderly lady said she had so many of them and wanted others to be able to enjoy them like she has all her life.

I still am not sure why I picked these up, I guess because they are so cute. And they remind me of the coffee pot that I seen Mom use for many years. She made coffee on the stove instead of a Machine when I was a little girl.

CKC-St. Louis 2nd Day

I am sorry I haven't been back on to post about the CKC Convention, but WOW have I had a busyyyyyyyy week.

As you probably have already read on Paula's blog, I have to get up on a regular basis by 4am. So by 4:30 I had been up showered, and ready to go. I was trying to be very quiet, but guess I awoke sleeping beauty. So I started working on Thurs. nights Chatterbox book until time to start our mad-dome of none stop classes. We didn't even realize that we hadn't even scheduled a lunch in all the excitement of registering.

My first class starting at 8:30, I was raring to go ( I had been up for almost 5 hours, not like my cohort.) My first class was from SEI - 4Velvet Paper Techniques.

SEI - 4 Ribbon Techniques - Friends Word Album

Paula and I attended this class together.
In this class we were taught different ribbon techniques.

• Ribbon Laced, brad-studded frame
• Ribbon Lattice
• Ribbon wrapped dimensional sticker
• Sizzix die-cut ribbon
• Quad-tied ribbons
• Ribbon-tied rings
• Ribbon photo centers
  Pages were embellished with mini glitter coaster tags, puff stickers and rhinestone brads.
  

Ribbon tied on a tagRibbon Flower - Twist 3 3inch pieces of ribbon, insert in the center of a brad to the bottom of brad. Insert brad through a chipboard coaster adhere to page. Separate ribbons and it makes a Flower.Ribbon tied around a puff flower..why in the world I had never tried this I do not know..its is so simple, just twist ribbon around and under the flower. It is SOOOOOO cute.

Ribbon Lattice - how cute it is...just insert picture or tag and you are ready to go. You adhere ribbon only on the ends to edge of pageRibbon photo corners. Take 2 1/2 inch ribbon, wrap around photo mat, adhere only on back of mat.

Ribbon laced, brad-studded frame - How cute is that..... punch 4 holes in side of frame. Lace ribbon 12 inches long through the holes and tie off. Top off with brads in the holes.Sizzix die-cut ribbon - purple "ric-rac". Also Quad-tied ribbons through the hole of the letter in this book.

What A Wonderful Easter We Had.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter. My family did, attended a awesome service at our church. Then spent time on both sides of the family.

We were able to spend time with Chuck's Great Nephew and his little cousin. Devin and Jacob are two beautiful baby boy's.

I see some CUTE scrapbook pages with these LITTLE CUTIE'S pictures on them. I found out that I can still rock little ones to sleep. I was honored to rock Jacob to sleep.

I must of been a good girl, (picture of me and Easter Bunny was taken at work). I received an Easter Basket full of Easter stickers, Spring stickers, Wonderful Ribbons, some very colorful material, beaded fringe, and some wooden spools. I can't wait to dig in...I love NEW things for my crafts, etc. OHHHHH I almost forgot the chipboard letters.

I will be adding a new slide show tomorrow, can't wait to show you all the WONDERFUL new finds that I have....material, chipboard letters, ribbons, lace, scrapbook retreat door prize that I won....oh so many wonderful things.

Fashionistas Layout Challenge

I mentioned before I LOVE Challenges!!!!! Here is my Layout for Wilna Furstenberg's, this is her first Fashionista Layout Challenge. Wilna loves simple things. So this Challenge is called The 6 Thing Challenge.

The 6 Thing Challenge, the items you will need to use are: Brads, Paint, Cardboard, Ribbon, Chipboard Letters, and 1 Printed Paper.

So here is my LO for this challenge. The picture is of Paula, Cat, and myself at the Scrapbook and Altered Art Retreat last weekend. We were working on our Art Muses (dolls).
